Tools 4 School 2011 Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alpharetta Sunday, July 31st 1:00-3:00PM Tools 4 School is back! Join Act Together Ministries for an exciting event that will kick off the new school year. Many of the children served by Act Together face struggles that adults will never face. Imagine being homeless, moving from school to school, having a parent away indefinitely at war, being taken away from your parents and put into foster care. In these type of situations, children are at risk of falling behind or failing in school. Unfortunately we cannot make it “all better” but we can make sure the children have what they need to start the school year off on the right foot. New in 2011: Act Together is excited to announce “I CA+N” a new program that will offer rewards and incentives to the children throughout the school year. Our goal is to encourage the children to use the “Tools 4 School” and make the most of their education. Through this new program, the children will receive prizes such as movie tickets, toys, or ice cream certificates for good grades and improvement in areas of struggle. Tools 4 School offers new school supplies, hair cuts, medical and dental screening. At the event, children and their families enjoy lunch, games, crafts and more. Sometimes clothing or food to take home is available to further assist the families. Volunteers are needed at this event. Families, groups and individuals are needed to run the school supplies store, serve lunch, play games with the children, run the check in table, and more. If you are interested in volunteering, please click here to view the list of opportunities. We thank you in advance! School Supplies Drive: Your help is needed to make sure we have enough school supplies for all the children. At Tools 4 School 250 foster children and children from low income families will receive a school bag filled with school supplies. Volunteers are needed to organize school supply drives throughout north Atlanta. Could you collect school supplies in your neighborhood? At your church? What about your office? We will provide step by step directions and there are ways the entire family can get involved. Sign up to collect school supplies.
