Who are the children in distress?

He is a child of divorce. She has no place to call home. They have outgrown all their clothes and can't afford more. He goes to school starving, and his stomach growls loudly before 10 a.m.

She doesn't have enough school supplies. Their father is in prison. He has a behavioral disorder. She hides the scars of abuse.

They have lived in five foster homes in two years. He will not live six more months without medical treatment. She is heavily burdened and lonely. They will drop out of high school if someone doesn't step in.

These are the children in distress. Compassion compels us and our faith requires us to act now.
